Hon Tranh lies about 1.5 km southeast of the main Phu Quy Island, and it takes only around 10 minutes by canoe to get there. The island is shaped like an “S,” covering 2.8 km², with its widest point at 400 meters and its longest at 1,000 meters. In the past, Hon Tranh was completely uninhabited, covered with tall wild grass called tranh, which later inspired its name.
Historically, Hon Tranh served as a frontline outpost, hosting military stations and a few long-settled islander families. As tourism in Phu Quy has grown rapidly in recent years, interest in exploring Hon Tranh has also increased. Canoe tours have now become one of the most popular experiences for visitors.

Canoe tours to Hon Tranh depart at 7:30 AM and end around 3:00 PM. The last canoe returning from Hon Tranh to the main island is around 5:30 PM. Visitors should plan their activities accordingly and choose a suitable tour package.
