Palm sugar steamed cake (bánh bò thốt nốt) is usually a simple street snack, but in Phu Quoc you’ll get to enjoy a special version: the cakes are steamed in bamboo baskets and served hot, releasing a fragrant aroma with a light, pleasant sweetness that never feels overwhelming.
This delicacy is found exclusively at the Dinh Cậu Night Market and is made from humble local ingredients such as rice flour, palm sugar flour, palm sugar, and coconut milk.
The cakes have a naturally golden color from ripe palm fruit, wrapped in banana leaves and topped with shredded coconut, creating a rustic yet irresistibly delicious flavor.
