Hon Ong Doi is located at the southernmost tip of An Thoi, Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang Province), about 32 km from Duong Dong and 180 km from Kien Giang’s center. Positioned between the Gulf of Thailand and the East Sea, this headland holds a rare geographic advantage: one of the few places in Vietnam where visitors can watch both sunrise and sunset from the same beach.
According to local legend, during his escape from the Tay Son forces, Nguyen Anh’s boat became stuck on a reef at this very cape. In the critical moment, a loyal officer jumped into the sea to free the anchor, enabling the boat to escape but sacrificing his own life. After ascending the throne, Emperor Gia Long returned to this site to offer thanks and named it Hon Ong Doi (Cape of the Officer). Since then, it has been regarded as a sacred place in the hearts of Phu Quoc islanders.
Today, Hon Ong Doi enchants visitors with its pristine beauty: powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, uniquely shaped natural rock formations, and lush primary forest stretching across gentle hillsides. Together, these elements create a majestic yet peaceful landscape that leaves a strong impression on anyone who visits.
Its exceptional scenery and strategic location have made Hon Ong Doi a standout attraction and a magnet for premium resort developments. Blending sea, forest, and stone in perfect harmony, this iconic cape offers an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking both nature and serenity.
