The Phu Quy Flag Tower, inaugurated on June 17, 2015, stands proudly on the eastern tip of Chuoi Hill, overlooking the scenic Ganh Hang Beach in Trieu Duong Hamlet, Tam Thanh Commune, Phu Quy Special Zone. Built on an area of nearly 200 m², the tower is one of the island’s most sacred symbols of Vietnam’s sovereignty in the East Sea.
The structure is composed of four main parts: the pedestal, the base, the stairway, and the surrounding square.
- The flag pedestal rises 22.6 meters high, made of reinforced steel, bearing a 4×6 m national flag.
- The base, standing 5.2 meters tall, is constructed from solid reinforced concrete and clad in gray-white granite. It is adorned with the National Emblem, National Title, the Red Flag with the Yellow Star, and geographic coordinates.
- The stairway and square face directly toward the East Sea, creating a solemn and majestic atmosphere.
- The foundation is built with specialized lighthouse-grade engineering, reaching a depth of about 10.24 m² to withstand harsh winds and strong waves.

The project cost over 1.26 billion VND to complete. The flag itself is made from highly durable fabric designed to endure the extreme coastal climate.
Beyond its physical presence, the Phu Quy Flag Tower is a powerful symbol of Vietnamese sovereignty, patriotism, and unity. It serves as a reminder to younger generations of the responsibility to protect the nation’s maritime borders and inspires pride among island residents.
Today, the flag tower is not only a political and cultural landmark but also one of Phu Quy Island’s most popular tourist attractions. Visitors come to admire the national flag flying proudly over the vast blue sea, capture memorable photos, and feel the profound sense of pride that this frontline island embodies.
