Vung Bau Beach – A Crescent-Shaped Hidden Gem in Northwestern Phu Quoc

Located in Cua Can Commune, Phu Quoc Special Zone, Vung Bau Beach lies on the island’s western coast, about 15 km north of Duong Dong Town. The beach is beautifully embraced by two mountain ranges—Vung Bau Mountain and Ong Quoi Mountain—creating a sheltered, tranquil shoreline. The coastline stretches for about 4 km with fine, white sand, making it ideal for beach relaxation and outdoor activities.

Tucked between Ong Lang Beach and Bai Dai, Vung Bau Beach feels like a peaceful hideaway. Its shoreline forms a natural crescent shape, and the water remains crystal clear throughout both the rainy and dry seasons. With calm waves and shallow waters, the beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. It is also family-friendly, clean, and dotted with a few rustic, stilt-house accommodations scattered along the shore.

From Vung Bau Beach, visitors can enjoy a clear view of Hon Mong Tay—one of Phu Quoc’s most beautiful snorkeling destinations. The surrounding area is still largely untouched, with layers of natural vegetation including hardwood trees, palms, casuarinas, and coconut trees spreading across the landscape and adding to the beach’s pristine charm.

Thanks to its gentle slope, Vung Bau Beach is very safe for children and for those who are not confident swimmers. While exploring the shore, you may even come across starfish, cowrie shells, or the occasional sea urchin resting on the sand—small reminders of the area’s rich marine life.
