Hon Ngang is the most densely populated island in the Nam Du Archipelago, home to around 900 households. From Hon Lon (Big Island), it takes about 30 minutes by boat to reach Hon Ngang. Although Hon Ngang is located closer to the mainland than Hon Lon, travelers departing from Rach Gia currently still need to transit via Hon Lon before continuing on to Hon Ngang.

Situated on the eastern side of the Nam Du Archipelago in the Gulf of Thailand, Hon Ngang is also home to the largest seaport in Nam Du. Thanks to its favorable location, the island is constantly bustling with fishing boats and vessels coming and going, creating a vibrant coastal atmosphere that reflects the true spirit of island life.
The local residents of Hon Ngang mainly make their living from offshore fishing and floating fish farming, with grouper and cobia being the most commonly raised species. Visitors can hire small boats to explore the floating fish cages offshore, stroll through the seaside fishing village to learn about fishermen’s daily lives, or enjoy fresh seafood that is prepared on the spot.
As night falls, the view from Hon Ngang looking toward Hon Lon becomes especially captivating. The lights from fishing boats and the distant island shimmer across the sea, creating a peaceful yet magical scene—an experience unique to Nam Du that is sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors.
